Description

In April 1982 Sergio Aragones graciously consented to do a signing tour thru my Berkeley, San Francisco, and Santa Rosa Best of Two Worlds comic book stores. While pausing for a lunch break near rhe Santa Rosa store, Dean Mullaney and Cat Yronwode joined us per Sergio's request.

Sergio then proceeded to draw this beautiful full page rendition in ink without pencil prelims as he is so famously prone to do of his now famous character for us while he shopped the particulars of what Eclipse Comics might have to offer him.

This is one of the earliest versions of what Pacific Comics nine months later published in Dec 1982. When PC went down after just six issues in this series, Eclipse was tapped to publish a "special" before Groo went on for a long run at Marvel Comics.

That's extremely cool Bob! Thanks for the back story. I still enjoy seeing the great Sergio at shows.

Hi Ted! Every one of the pieces in my Memory Book started back in 1974 has a fun back story. Having a nice Sergio Groo drawn over six months prior to it first getting published is quite an honor and a treat! Hopefully see you at one of the up-coming shows. Life has been keeping me closer to the grind stone as it all gets sorted out!
