I debated whether or not to post this, as I don't have it yet. But it's got to be shared.

I only met Mark Buckingham once or twice, back when Fables was in it's earlier stages, just after Storybook Love I believe. I talked to him a bit, picked up a few pages... but all this was before Boy Blue really came into his own with March of the Wooden Soldiers and especially Homelands. I've been hunting a good Boy Blue page forever. I can't seem to find one that is available and just hits the spot (say one from Homelands).

I saw that Mark Buckingham was heading to Baltimore. But I am stuck overseas so that wasn't really an option. Sure I could have asked friends but we all know how it is, standing in line waiting for sketches. It's not fun and I didn't want anyone to have to do it for me. By some fluke I saw the ad on CAF for comicsketchart.com Decided to check it out and then decided to use the service to see if I could land a piece by Mark. I had nothing to lose after all.

So I talked a little with Doug, set something up, but told him it was cool if Mark didn't want to do something full figure or anything. I know how it is to do cross atlantic flights and have to work AND have to be all fit and friendly at a con. I didn't want to add any pressure on Mark or anything.

Couple of days ago Doug sent me this scan. He said Mark did the piece, it looked cool and I was really looking forward to seeing it. Needless to say it's so much more than I expected. It's Blue, it's Homelands. It's got the Vorpal Sword and the Witching Cloak. It's got the 'Bucky' trees!

The plan now, if all goes well, is to see whether or not Steve Leialoha will ink the piece. And then I already have someone to colour (a copy) it in mind. We'll see. And while I am still hunting a nice Boy Blue page, I will say this piece really is just as good.
