Dawn Nude (2013) by Linsner

This is one of those wonderful pieces where the story out weighs the art.

Way back when, I fell in love with an artist that I knew nothing about. All I new was that every time I walked into my comic book shop, they had a mature readers section behind the counter. And in the middle of that section was one comic that I always wanted. And one day my 13 yr old self decided it was time to nut up or shut up, and I told the clerk that I wanted that one, pointing to it. He turned and looked, and pulled down Drama #1 for me by JML. And from that point forward I was hooked.

Fast forward to Wizard World Philly '03. I was not an art collector at the time, but I knew I wanted one piece of art. I had decided no matter what, I was leaving with a Linsner. I sat and talked to Zeke for a long time ("Oh your PooZ from the boards!" and I got a a big Zeke grin and a nice to meet you), Joe was off doing something, which afforded me the opportunity to look through his portfolio and make a decision. I told Zeke which one I wanted, but told him I'd like to meet Joe when he got back and get it from him personally.

Fast forward from that awkward fanboy moment and I've had some great moments with Joe and his Linsner family. Dragon Con 06, setting up my first commission and attending the Dawn Look Alike after party, multiple dinners at Zeke's house, Drinking beers with JML and Zeke at the Independence Brew Pub in Philly, Dinner at Zeke's house with my new fiancé, the list goes on and on. And the big one, getting an original piece of art depicting Darrian proposing to Dawn, which I used to propose to my wife, and later Joe blessed us by letting us use the art for our save the date magnet. The thing that I'll never forget? Joe telling me to put my money away when I tried to pay for the engagement piece, telling me it was a gift from him.

So on to this piece.....throughout the years I have been more then happy to help Joe whenever I can with computer related stuff. Nothing big, just happy to help (I consider Joe a friend now but Im still a fanboy at heart). This year Joe decided to thank me for what I've done, and this art is the result.

Some day Ill figure out how to properly thank him for what he's done.
