Description

Welcome the to last leg of Juggernaut's Tour of the Multiverse! Jug has had quite an adventure on this multi-universal tour. He's taken on the Harvey Heroes from the 60s. Gone up against the Atlas-Seaboard Heroes from the 70s. Squared off against the Continuity Comics Heroes of the 80s. Kicked the rear ends of Malibu Comics' the Protectors team of the 90s. Oh yeah, he took on the Mighty Crusaders too. And now, it all concludes with the ultimate schoolyard bully trying to take the lunch money of a team that came together in the the 2K decade -- although all of them were created in the 1940s! They're the heroes of Dynamite Entertainment's Project Superpowers series.

Project Superpowers was a series of limited series that brought back many of the public domain superheroes of the Golden Age. My takeaway on it was the execution didn't quite match up to the potential. Dynamite should get somebody like Kurt Busiek or Roger Stern, a great artist like Darryl Banks, Sal Velluto, Val Semeiks, or the man who rendered this killer commission: Steve Erwin!

Steve has a long resume in the comics industry, drawing such titles as DC's DEATHSTROKE and CHECKMATE titles. Here, he shows his rendition of such heroes as the Black Terror, Green Lama, Pyroman, the Arrow, Mighty Samson, golden-age Daredevil, Hydroman, and the Silver Streak trying to take Jug down. An outstanding piece of artwork that he turned around in under 60 days.

This'll be the last leg of Jug's Tour of the Multiverse. Time to return home to the Marvel U. But don't get too smug, you heroes from other universes. There's always next year, and tickets to the DC Universe are cheap from Orbitz!

Damon, awesome trip thru the multiverse. This has been a great series. But I have to give you a heads up...you inspired me and I have one more stop for Juggy I hope to post soon. I hope you'll appreciate the smackdown fest I have in store for Jugs!

Larry, I don't know who you've got Juggy going up against, but I've got my fingers crossed that its the "other" Harvey Heroes -- Caspar, Wendy, Richie Rich, Stumbo and that whole bunch. They've got it coming!:-)

You legally obtained the sequel rights from Damon?

Really sad to hear this is the end of Juggy's Mutiverse tour Damon. I was hoping for a clash with the heroes of Hanna Barbara( Space Ghost,BirdMan,ect.) You inspired me with the theme, and led me to a few of the great artists who you commissioned for this adventure. This piece made for a great ending!

Rob, that's a great idea. I've never done anything using those characters, and putting them against Juggy would've been very interesting. Hmmmm.....

I keep picturing the Fraims doing something BIG Hanna-Barbara-wise for me one day.

Public Doman superheroes? Who wants to see them? No, seriously, this is Mega-Cool and, as other posters have said, his tour has 'inspired' me as well ... Hey! What about the Riverdale gang? Jughead vs Juggernaut - it practically writes itself!

Roy, I'd much rather see Juggy smash Reggie Mantle, or even kick Big Moose's butt. They've both got it coming. He can challenge Jughead to an eating contest though.

I'm delighted to see work by Steve Erwin. I hope this inspires him to accept more commissions. Great piece! If this truly is the end, one has to ask what will your next theme be?
