Description

I realize that this is not a piece of original comic art, but, of all the proof pages for Frank King's Sunday pages, this is about as great a one as I can imagine. I agree with Russ Cochran's assessment of the value and importance of these early proof sheets, since so few were made and even fewer survive. This one was an obvious choice for me, since it recounts most of the key events in Walt and Skeezix Wallet's relationship and Skeezix' own early development. It also is the proof for the first Sunday page featuring one of my favorite Gasoline Alley characters, Skeezix' dog, Pal, who first appeared and was given to Skeezix during the week prior to the appearance of this Sunday page

NOTE:

Although I won this proof page in Russ Cochran's auction and paid for it, it was apparently sent to someone else by mistake. I have given up hope that it will turn up after so many years, BUT, if anyone knows where it is, please let Russ know, or, better yet, return it to Russ. As I explained before I found out that the proof was lost, it really is, in my opinion, one of the most important proof sheets that I bought, and I doubt that it would be as important to whoever received it by mistake.
