Description

Another incredible Neal Adams pencil prelim. You can see an earlier stage of this cover elsewhere in my gallery. In this version, Neal rotated the hero and changed the placements of the girl and most of the villains. I like the fact that he didn't feel he had to draw the flaming villain again... already nailed that one.

It is my assumption that Neal would then move these sketches to the Artograph machine, to be traced onto the board for painting.

Note that Neal apparently grabbed whatever piece of paper was handy to make this drawing. Also note the little prelim for a different cover at the bottom. Neal probably got a call about that job while working on the Tarzan piece. Is that little prelim for Thrilling Adventures #2?

Anyway, another amazing pencil piece by one of my heroes. It thrills me every time I see it hanging in my studio.
