Description

This is the first cover in a pretty massive commission series. It's the Legion as I'd do it. The Adventure Comics title is there as the commissioner grew up with the Swan Legion and loves that era. But style wise, for me, it had to be the Cockrum/Grell Legion, the designs were great (although Cockrum never touched Ultra Boy's costume, because it was awesome as it was), that I based the costumes on. Some of the costumes I've redesigned totally, others are tweaked.

So this issue kicks off an initial 5 part story...(and yes, the title is from Star Trek, it's intentional!) It's the first meeting between the Legion and the Earth 3 Legion, The Legion of Crime...

This is a really cool commission series for me as back when I was 8 my dad would bring home 50 sheets of copier paper and I'd immediately fold them in half and draw 50 Legion covers on them. So really, it's the same thing (but I can draw a little better now and I get paid to do it).

I'll be colouring the series too as it'll be good to see the different costumes of both the Legion and the Legion of Crime in colour.

I've started off the series in a Grell kinda style as I wanted to make it look traditional, like a proper comic series from the time when the Legion, for me, was at it's best. I think eventually I'll add a little more of my own style in there as the series progresses.

Very cool idea! I would also like to see the Earth-3 Supergirl - or would that be Ultra-girl?

The Earth 3-Supergirl is in the next issue. The Ultra Girl situation is a little compliated! The Earth 3 Supergirl is the younger self of the 21st Century Crime Syndicate member Super Woman. Just as Ultra Boy is the younger Ultra Man...so is the Earth 3 version of the Legion's Ultra Boy Superboy? And would Supergirl be related to him...? I'll figure it out, there are plenty of issues to go! I'll be posting the first issue on my blog with a teaser for issue 2.
