Description

Here’s a brutal take on Obi-Wan’s lightsaber fight inside the cantina bar in A New Hope. The Rocket's Blast Comicollector issue from 1977 was devoted to Star Wars and included an article, which was critical about Marvel's comic book adaptation of the movie. Two pages by Gammill published with the article were the magazine's attempt to show improvements over Marvel's version. This prompted a letter from Roy Thomas, a writer of the Star Wars comic adaptation, explaining that unlike the original writer-artist team, Gammill had seen the finished movie prior to rendering his version.

Gammill later worked on the interior pages with Tom Palmer on Star Wars #70 and the cover for Star Wars #102 in the early 80's.

Awesome artwork. I really never looked at Gammill before but I will have to search out more of his art.
