Batman - 1993 - Knightfall - Batman : Issue 493 page 7 - Zsasz

There are several artists who worked on the Batman titles that I grew up with, but personally for me Norm is THE Batman artist. Norm and Alan Grant created Zsasz. I enjoy villains like these because they often take things to a dark place that forces the hero to fight their own instincts. No need for super powers to get Batman truly rattled, and it makes the danger all that more believable... well I did read this when I was a kid so it was certainly believable back then :D

Breyfogle's addition of reversing the eye colouring in this run to give him an altogether beady, unhinged and almost demonic look is great. It was nice to see it used again very recently by Ivan Reis at the beginning of 2022 in 'Tec 1047. See the additional image, there's just something very serial killer like about it.
