DescriptionI could look at this page for hours. I could look at any John Severin page for hours. I'm not sure there's ever been an artist better with cross-hatching, shading, fine detail, and evoking a specific time and place. I've wanted a page for years, but specifically wanted one showing the outdoors, and perhaps an animal or two - Severin was great with both. This page is also a great piece of storytelling, with multiple camera distances and angles. Even near the end of his life and career, he was turning out brilliant work. One of the great masters.Oh, and P.S., you can't really see it on the scan, but on the far right, there's text in the margin after the sixth panel: "Them Injuns shore do talk a lot." There are also assorted ink squiggles made, I assume, as the artist tried to find the proper line width. One particularly long squiggle down the side ends in a bi-plane heading towards the page bottom and, one presumes, its doom. Social/Sharing |

This is a terrific page! & that bi-plane is a great bit of off panel doodling fun!
