I've always been intrigued by great villains, and this is the point where I first started reading Thor - that amazing Kirby cover and the menacing Mangog were enough to hook me!

What a great flashback splash. I started picking up Thor right about this time. Mangog was one of my favorite villains.

Great title splash! Mangog stands atop the Odinsword, and the doom of the Universe seems certain. I love the way treacherous Igron is leaning nonchalantly against the hilt of the giant sword. A superbly dynamic image of Mangog, squashed against the top of the panel to emphasise the scale. The combination of Big John and Tony DeZuniga is just fabulous.
