Karate Kid vs.
Ghost Rider by
Mark Texeira
I'm not sure when I first saw Mark Texeira's art, but I do remember that I first started really taking notice when he was working on Ghost Rider, and in particular when he drew that Wolverine & Ghost Rider team-up in Marvel Comics Presents. I've been a pretty big fan of Tex's ever since, with his work on Black Panther, Wolverine, Punisher, Moon Knight and Ghost Rider again always standing out to me. So yeah, I've been thinking about commissioning Mark for a few years, and this year I finally pulled the trigger for one to be picked up at Pensacon 2014. And of course Mark did a stellar job! No one draws a better Ghost Rider than Mark, in my opinion, and his Karate Kid looks fantastic as well. I love the energy in this one, and just how tough Ghost Rider looks. I also really dig the little details, like the folds in Ghost Rider's jeans. Thanks to Steve Scott for helping me to set up this commission, and to Mark for going all out and delivering a masterpiece!
This fight would be a little different. Ghost Rider's never been reluctant to get into a brawl when he needs to, but he can't really be hurt unless you're using magic. And as far as I know, Val Armorr doesn't know any magic-fu (but I could be wrong). So Val's best strategy would be to kick Ghost Rider's flaming skull right off of his neck and shatter it (don't worry, he'd recover), then run off to get help from his teammate the White Witch.
If you like this piece then please do go buy some books featuring Mark's work in either physical or digital format and/or go commission him yourself.
