DescriptionThis is the final published version of "Bill Ward Raise and Lower" which appears in this same sub gallery. This came up on Ebay shortly after I got the pencil preliminary. I had planned to sell the prelim as redundant, but it really isn't. The face on the prelim is prettier and the two were taped together, the tape stainw on the prelim matching the ones on the final. Ward really put a lot of extra effort into this such as the shadows from the blinds. This definitely was published, probably in "Adam" and probably in the late 1950's to early 1960's and was clipped as shown. As with all conte crayon Wards, this is huge.Social/Sharing |

Ward displayed such virtuoso technique and skill when he rendered these types of illustrations. Just to look at the lovely detail of the rendering of the curtains is to realize how "above and beyond" he often went with his cartoons. I'm sure piece this has a glow to it in person which is stunning.
