Description(September 1987) (DC Comics) While some people like McFarlane's work on Spider-Man and some like his work on Spawn, I am especially partial to the very brief 3-issue stint he did on the "Batman: Year Two" storyline in Detective Comics #'s 576, 577, and 578. Whereas Alfredo Alcala inked McFarlane's pencils in the first two issues, #578 was the sole issue that McFarlane inked himself. This page features many strong elements in relation to The Dark Knight Detective, and one can even see at this early stage that McFarlane may already be experimenting with the idea of Spawn. My favorite issue of his brief stint on Detective. Alcala didn't understand Mcfarlane's work at all so this issue is the only real Mcfarlane Batman art for my taste. Would have loved to have seen more Mcfarlane Batman.
