July 31, 1951 Daily

This wonderful daily is from the storyline that introduced the classic characters P.T Bridgeport and Tammananny Tiger. Both the dialogue and the artwork in this daily are top notch and I absolutely love how the final panel perfectly captures how a parent often feels.

Pogo dailies featuring P.T. Bridgeport and Tammananny Tiger are very tough to find as so many are locked up tight in private collections. This is the earliest strip featuring these characters that I have seen and I am very happy to be its caretaker!

The strip was published on July 31, 1951 and reprinted in the "I Go Pogo" paperback in 1952 and reprinted most recently in the hardcover "Bona Fide Balderdash" which collects the complete Pogo strips from 1951 and 1952.
