Description
Page 29 of 2000ad prog 21, 16th July 1977.

Mr Turner is probably best known for his cover illustrations -- https://www.flickr.com/photos/gems_from_the_collection/sets/72157600000117243/ -- and his sci-fi comics work like Rick Random and Space Ace in the 1950s together with many TV tie-in titles in the 1960s and 1970s (Dr Who, Thunderbirds, Stringray, Captain Scarlet etc). Mr Turner illustrated some early Dredd stories, most notably part of the "Robot Wars" mini-epic that helped establish Dredd as a fan-favoutite, but according to Mr John Lawrence, Mr Turner's agent, "Turner's clean, streamlined version of Dredd didn't sit well with the new generation of ... artists and his time on the strip was short-lived."

Mr Lawrence is currently compiling magazine collections of Mr Turner's earlier Space Ace strips, now coloured by John Ridgway, to "help to keep the memory of this man's marvellous work alive for many years to come". The third issue will be published in October 2014.

I am grateful for Mr Lawrence for parting with this page.
