Alex Dunbier by Garry Leach

A year and a half ago Garry Leach finally came to the San Diego Comic-con. He had been meaning to come for 20 odd years and now he had actually done it. The plan was for him to do a bunch of drawings of Marvelman and other characters that he could sell at the show to make some extra cash. Garry stayed with my family that week and he barely left his room to go to the con. I remember getting mad at him, telling him he should go and sell some art, that he was losing a great opportunity. Well, he wound up going a bit, but not as much as he should have. When he was packing up to leave our apartment, Garry handed me this painting--he had been holed up for days in there doing a portrait of our son, Alex. One of the best guys I know, a great friend.
