Karate Kid vs. Black Widow by Jesse Hamm

I'm pretty sure that I discovered Jesse Hamm's art a couple of years ago on Twitter when I started seeing other artists retweet him. Jesse's two Twi tter feeds are both full of wit and wisdom, by the way, and should definitely be checked out. And Jesse's art is just fabulous, so when I had a chance to commission him, I hit him up for a Karate Kid commission. I gave Jesse a few opponents to choose from and we ended up settling on my favorite Russian spy, the Black Widow. Not too long afterwards, Jesse sent me this awesome piece! I love lot of things about this drawing, from the poses, to the shading, to the Widow's hair, to Karate Kid's face. And it's just so full of energy! Hat's off to Jesse for doing a superb job!

Natasha Romanoff is one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in the Marvel Universe, and she fights dirty. She's strong, fast, tough as nails, and her Widow's Bite weapon can also make for an unfair advantage. That said, unless she somehow sneaks up on Karate Kid, she doesn't stand a chance. If Val is fast enough to dodge a lightning strike (and he is), then he can certainly avoid the Widow's Bite long enough to either disarm Natasha or knock her out. But if may take quite a few blows to take her down, because Natasha is so tough and stubborn, she just doesn't know when to give up. Val wins, but the Widow wins his respect.
