Back in the Summer of 1972, BERNI WRIGHTSON was still riding the crest of tremendous success & popularity, due to the mind-bending artistic talents he brought to bear, on DC's Mystery titles.. Shortly before he dove headlong into co-creating his standout SWAMP THING series,-- Berni was the BEST reason, for fans to purchase either of DC's flagship "Mystery" titles: 'HOUSE of SECRETS'.. And, 'HOUSE of MYSTERY'.. Contributing many short stories, to both books!

These original art pages have been hotly sought-after by most collectors, as examples of what 'Comic Art' can aspire to be: clean Layouts, thoughtful Staging, inventive Pencilling, and lush Inking! Most have been snapped-up. And are already locked away in private collections. Finer examples of Wrightson art from this time period, have been increasingly hard to come by!

Here: is Page 7 of a 9-page story, entitled: "All In The Family".. This gruesome little trinket, debuted in HOUSE of MYSTERY #204. As you can witness by the featured JPEGs, Mary has foolishly imagined herself to be a 'Guest of Honor' at this dinner party.. Only to find out to her shrieking horror, that she's (in fact) going to BE the Main Course?! A tasty tidbit for a kind of gelatinous slime creature, that only H.P. Lovecraft could love!!

This page has got all the hallmarks of a stellar Wrightson horror page: a sexy Gothic girl, deep pools of black ink for dramatic lighting effect, a scream with "Ghastly" saliva pulling at the lips/mouth.. Even an infamous "GOOD LORD *CHOKE!!*" word balloon panel! A thoughtful nod-and-wink to the finer traditions of EC Comics; that informed Bernie's own artistic sensibilities..

This page has an image area of 10" x 15".
