Kastra (Planet of the Capes) by Bill McKay

In 2004 a story known as Planet of the Capes was published by Larry Young (writer) and Brandon McKinney (artist).

Though I read comics before then it was one of my earlier favorites featuring a team of superheroes similar to other established characters.

The Grand being the team's Superman, Justice Hall the teams Batman and Strongman Schaff the teams Hulk/Firestorm.

Kastra though relatively powerless was one of my favorites of the team. Her father was half of Strongman Schaff and is the one who pacifies him if his rage gets out of control.

It wasn't immediately obvious when I read the book at the time but some time later I realized she must've been based a bit on Starfire.

Like Starfire she's a rainbow colored alien and both are from world's whose species wear little clothing with Kastra wearing a somewhat Greco-Roman design similar to how Starfire as part of a species descended from felines were somewhat Egyptian based in clothing. Kastra's species are presumably descended from snakes given their snakelike appearance as Starfire's are from cats.

Bill McKay knocked this little known character out of the park. I'll likely revisit this character some more later as well.
