I bought the original Origins of Marvel Comics with it's fantastic painted John Romita cover when it first hit the book stores way back in 1974, I was 10yrs old and it was one of the first things I ever purchased with my own money. ($5.95 for a "comic book" was waaay to much for my parents to fork out!) I've had that same copy on my bookshelf ever since. Over all these years I've also wanted to have an artist do a re-creation for me. Finding the right artist who'd do it justice without making me rob a bank has been quite the quest over all these years. I hope you'll all agree with me that I made a great choice in Mike DeCarlo! The commission was reasonably priced and finished in a timely manner with fair terms. Mike was also really enthusiastic throughout the process. I found him through the comics writer Tony Isabella who endorsed him on his Facebook page. Mike's got his own website and an easy to find Facebook page as well page if you'd like to contact him. What you're looking at is the original India inked art, followed by it colored in a more traditional Watercolor you'd see in a typical Silver Age comic. (as opposed to Romita's painted version) I think Mike did a FANTASTIC job staying true to Romita's original while maintaining his own wonderful art style. Mike DeCarlo made a dream come true for me. I hope you like it!
