I got engaged last year and scheduled the wedding for May 2015. Since my collection includes a number of pages and commissions from comics with my birth month and year in the cover, I wanted to own one with the same cover date as my upcoming wedding. When the May 2015 DC Comics solicitations came out, I just needed this cover since it depicted a wedding!

The New 52 returned Barbara Gordon as Batgirl with the Oracle persona gone. The new Convergence event coming gives Oracle a comeback. Oracle to me has been more relevant to the DC Universe than Batgirl as of late. Who can also forget the scene in The Killing Joke which leads to her disability? Nice to see Oracle back.

Jill Thompson is a gifted creator (Scary Godmother anyone?) and one of the few females to make a significant name in the adult comic Vertigo market. This issue was also written by Gail Simone, pencilled by Jan Duursema, and edited by Marie Javins. This is female empowerment for this comic right here, and there's no better time for me to get my first piece of comic art by a female artist just when I am in the cusp of getting married.

Simone told newsarama.com that the story is "a fun, scary, sexy thriller set against one of the biggest shared universes ever created.And it's also a story about a boy and a girl and how they try to be something in a dangerous time." The image size is 10" x 15" on Strathmore Holbein 12.5" x 16" watercolor paper. Medium is watercolor. Thanks to Paolo Belfiore for making this possible and to Jill Thompson for the dedication with my upcoming wedding date on it!

Jill Thompson was just ranked #4 in the Top 20 Female Comic Book Artists by the website Comic Book Resources (CBR) where it said when talking about the evolution of Thompson's work: "It is always cool when great artists re-invent themselves, but when great artists re-invent themselves and get even GREATER? Well, that�s a whole other (awesome) story."

Indeed she keeps getting better with time.

This is incredibly cool on so many dimensions - the image, the artist, the timing...certainly all seems to fall into the category of 'meant to be'. Well done on all fronts - and congrats on all fronts, as well!
