Description

Huge thanks to Disco Stu for putting me in touch with Mike Machlan.

This drawing arrived December 2005.

Mike Machlan is best known for longer runs inking All Star Squadron, Infinity Inc, and the West Coast Avengers. Mike also did an excellent pinup portfolio in the back of Marvel Fanfare (the Doctor Strange issue by Simonson and Gibbons) in which he was inked by Romita Sr, Sinnott, Milgrom, Ordway, and other greats.

This commission is based on MTIO 23 and 24 (originally by Ron Wilson and Marie Severin) in which Thing and Thor fight Seth and his army of baddies. Mike mentioned that Thor was one of his two favorite Marvel characters, so that was the jumping off point.

Check out the detail of Seth and his skeleton army in the bottom left corner!

Thanks to Mike for coming through with such a brilliant composition. This is an amazing drawing.
