DescriptionSPECIAL NOTE: Please make sure to "Click Image to View Full Size" in order to fully enjoy this piece. :)In January of this year, I attended Magic City Comic Con in Miami and met Jose Varese, an amazing artist and all-around nice guy. Jose currently works with a company called Creature Entertainment. He penciled & inked the 1st issue of "The Gun" and is currently penciling issues of "Ravenous." I had been alerted to the talents of Mr. Varese through my friends (Bryan & Phil) at Phil's Comic Shoppe in Margate, FL, and with their help I came up with the idea of commissioning Jose to draw a battle scene with Wonder Woman fighting Doomsday. I especially wanted a female heroine because of how beautifully Jose draws female characters, and I am a huge fan of the classic Doomsday character from the '90s Death of Superman story. Anyway, Jose set to work and spent the next couple months producing this masterpiece. I can hardly believe all the detail work that he did with the inks. It's mind boggling. I have included a pic of me and Jose holding up the art (at Phil's, where we met up today). I'm the guy on the left. Jose is the guy on the right. To say I am thrilled is an understatement :) I'm really looking forward to seeing what Jose produces in the future. Social/Sharing |

Wow that's awesome! Very cool idea, congratulations! On another note, which one are you, the fat guy on the right or the short old guy on the left? Anyways, super awesome piece, one of the best out there!

EVERYONE, click [View full image]! -I'm afraid the inking details on this would be missed otherwise- The inking is insane and gives so much depth and texture to Doomsday's bones and skin. There's such a cool dynamic to the beauty V. Beast scenario. You have the jagged and horrifying textures and protrusions of Doomsday in contrast to the smooth lines and sling of Wonder Woman. Great looking piece, amigo!! This artist did an outstanding job!!

Congratz again on this amazing piece Paul! I knew when we brainstormed this that Jose would kill it and he did not disappoint. The crosshatching is simply ridiculous, and as I mentioned to you when I suggested you seek him out.. he completely gets lighting and shadows. If interested you may follow Jose here https://www.facebook.com/jose.varese Ravenous #1 hits stores this Wednesday and I hope people check it out.
