Matt Sturgis wrote
Jack of Fables which was set in the main Fables universe but centered on Jack of Fables (all the Jacks from all the tales were one Jack, Jack Horner).
Though Jack was the title character, it was the Babe the Blue Ox pages that really tickled my funny bone. I checked once and was told that there was really not OA for those pages since most were composed in Photoshop (the panels repeated) or used a stat. Drat.
A few years ago, I discovered that Matt does something special at comic cons that I think is pretty terrific. For a few dollars, he will write a story in which Babe thinks about you and your life on a pre-printed "blank." The pre-printed blank used here was originally drawn by Tony Akins.
Though only the story and lettering are original, I think it's a pretty darn good way for a writer to get a few commissions! Sadly, the first time I saw him at a show, I passed on the opportunity and lived to regret it. When I saw that he was coming to Comicpalooza, I
contacted him through Facebook and made sure that he was still doing them. He was! Victory. :)
Hope you enjoyed both Matt's story and mine.
