DescriptionA very unique, very HUGE Jam Illustration created from 1979 through 1988!. This large, incredible, jam page features 25 characters from Marvel, DC, and Charlton, as well as independents, drawn by 26 different artists. This piece is almost a time-capsule as nearly any fan-favorite artist you can name from the 1980s is represented. The artist roll call includes Walt Simonson, John Byrne, Paul Smith, Brent Anderson, Stephen Bissette, Jan Duursema, Ron Frenz, Vince Giarrano, Stan Goldberg, Mike Grell, Fred Hembeck, Bob Layton, Al Milgrom, George Perez, Wendy Pini, Keith Pollard, Dave Sim, Dave Simons, Joe Sinnott, Joe Staton, John Totleben, Raoul Vezina, Mary Wilshire, and Tom Yeates. Some of the inking was done by Karl Kesel. The artists had the characters interact a bit with each other, including Byrne's ROG-2000 opining that he should have been the star of a book with E-Man as the backup rather than the other way around. Produced in graphite with inks and marker. The total image area measures a whopping 28.75" x 16" and will look spectacular framed on your wall. Slight tanning with some edge/corner creasing.Delving into its origins a bit further, I asked Karl Kesel, credited at the bottom with inks over the decade it took to finish this, about the piece and he said "I do remember inking some of the figures--the glittery gal next to Manhunter, the gal holder her knees on Manhunter's other side... I might have inked E-Man and Firestorm... and I seem to remember inking that helmeted figure standing above Hembeck. Damn! I think I inked Starfire and Manhunter, too! (Inked Manhunter pretty badly, too, but let's remember that Walt's pencils are a bit loose.) Might have done Shanna. Think that's it." Social/Sharing |

So cool. I love these things. It's like a time-capsule.

Nice little decade you caught there. With apologies to Bob Marley, you was jammin' till the jam was through.

I usually do not go for Jam pieces, but this comes together amazingly well!
