Batman by Ron Salas

We continue this seemingly never-ending series of Ron Salas Bat-commissions with an old-school Bruce Wayne. This is Batman in his early years, with pouches on his belt and before he added the yellow oval around his chest symbol. I really liked a lot of the flashback stories about Bruce in his early years that were told post-Crisis, from Year One to Long Halloween to many of the Legends of the Dark Knight stories. This was Batman when he still occasionally made mistakes, and fought mobsters just as often as he encountered costumed villains. Ron did a brilliant job here, showing once again that he is a master of black and white art with his use of shadows and light. I love the pose and the textures. Dear goodness, why hasn't DC hired Ron to draw a Batman story?

I would surely pick up a Bat-Book drawn by Ron! Really nice use of blacks here!
