Harry Barton (American, 1908-2001): Romance Paperback Novel Cover Painting (undated). Most likely produced for the Ace Gothic line of gothic romance novels (of which, Harry Barton painted his fair share), this moody and mysterious painting follows the standard imagery for them... lovely woman fleeing from a dark and foreboding building. This time, it is a seaside or lakeside house with a dock in the distance. Lovely image produced in gouache on 18" x 24" illustration board.

I can't believe I missed this one. The artist does so much with different shades of blue and green here. I love the moonlight on the right-hand side; it really draws you in to the painting. Very nice Lars!
