Description

As a part of working out plots for the Crusaders All-New Adventures covers I, as all good geeks do, started compiling lists of all Archie's characters. You wouldn't know it by looking at the 80's or any of the newer series but they actually have a whole mess of them. And lots of them are forgotten golden agers. Once I'd thought about trying to expand the Crusaders' universe with the Red Circle Spotlight series the idea struck me to look back to Archie's origins and play with some of those characters as well. It was easy to see it as a new Blue Ribbon Comics series and David Bednarski was the only artist that ever crossed my mind. David's amazing design work can be found on deviantArt and he's also done a lot of stuff for Roy Johnson's Standard Comics. A+ kinda guy. I was very happy that he was interested in doing these covers.

This is my favorite cover that David did. Inspired in part by Hulk #314 we're treated to the golden age Hercules (think classical myth mixed with Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon) mixing things up with 3 of the era's big bruisers. David did a great job here of taking some seriously one-off bad guys and bringing out their coolness in a major way. Inferno is totally great here (my favorite) and David's take on the Radium Corpse also makes me wish he'd been brought back at some point. To cool!

In This Issue ...
