Charles Davis Mitchell is now totally unknown, unfortunately, but he was a very talented illustrator! I love his drawings.

funny, i'd never heard of charles david mitchell until i saw this piece for sale. good stuff. i was checking out your page and i noticed the piece by David Hendricksen that you recently picked up. what a great drawing! i saw it online and i forgot to bid on it. i saw what it went for. you got a great deal$. kudos. by the way, probably the best of the "should be much better known illustrators" is the great frank godwin. i can't think of many people who can just flat out draw as well as him. truly a master.
