DescriptionIn the March-April 2016 issue of Harvard Magazine, they reproduce a portrait done last year for the Harvard Club of New York, of John P. ("Jack") Reardon. What caught my eye when I saw the piece is that the portrait was painted by Everett Raymond Kinstler, who got his start in the pulps and comics before becoming a renowned portrait painter. Among other subjects, he painted official portraits of Presidents Ford and Reagan.One of our recent acquisitions is this pulp interior by Kinstler that appeared in the First December 1956 issue of Ranch Romances, illustrating the story "Night in Town" by J.L. Bouma. He may be known today for his portrait work, but give me that old time pulp art any day! Social/Sharing |
