DescriptionThere is a bit of a story behind this piece and exactly what it is other than brilliant is a bit of a mystery.I bought this as an original pencil/inks/color piece. After getting it I questioned if it was. Clearly the watercolors are original by Moebius so it is original work. There is white out in the margins so this is the piece the final plates were taken from so it is an important piece that way. It was signed by Moebius when I had got it and I have since had Geof Darrow sign it at C2E2 2011. I asked Geof about the process that was used. Geof pencilled all of these. Moebius inked most of them on a vellum like paper but some were inked onto artist quality paper like the paper this one is on. I have had several experts look at this with me. Although no one is certain, the general impression is that it is probably printed ink lines with original watercolors but when compared to other inked moebius pieces I have it is really hard to make a firm call. It is better to err on the side of caution so it will be called printed ink lines as opposed to original inks. Regardless, a gorgeous piece from one of the greatest collaborations in comic history. Update 2015. I have been told now that Moebius did inks and colors on this. The attribution to Arno I got earlier but I can find no reference to support this. I own the portfolio and have not seen any credit given this way. If this is Moebius colors, then it would make sense the inks were orignal. Even under a big magnifying glass, the inks are too delicate to clearly call. I am now leaning more to this piece the original inks and colors by Moebius over Darrow pencils. A further update. I have been in contact with Moebius's former agent and long time friend. He was extremely helpful. He believes that these smaller insert pieces are 100% Moebius and do not involve Geof's work (despite Geof signing it). If the inks are original or printed is still not clear but he believes that they would likely be printed inks. The mystery continues. Social/Sharing |

This is fantastic! You rarely see finished color pieces like this, outside Europe anyway. Beautiful, typically lyrical, mysterious Moebius! Congrats on a great piece of art!

Magistral. Un Moebius sublime, de la meilleure inspiration et de la toute meilleure veine. Merci de le partager sur C.A.F. !
