Description'Inspired...Motivated...Fun in the extreme...'These are Simon's own words at the time to describe this, his first Marvel Cover for Strip Magazine (Marvel UK). I think he sums it up pretty well! Marvel themselves were obviously excited by this too as they included an article in the magazine about the cover and the fact Bisley was doing work for them... This piece had gone off the radar for over twenty years as Biz had loaned it to an Art Gallery where it was exhibited for quite some time. I couldn't believe how big it is in the flesh and is probably the largest cover I've seen by him. The style is also what I consider his peak period, when he did that kind of bubble-gummy, jump off the page, cartoonish, colourful work (ie. Doom Patrol, Terminator, Judgement in Gotham etc.). Image area is 17" x 23"on board. I've included additional images of the actual cover and the interview inside the magazine where Simon discusses it's creation (with a nice thumbnail for the pic as well). Social/Sharing |

Fantastic painting, it's a classic for sure! That Rockabilly hairdo is really something :)

I think this may be Simon's best painting featuring a marvel character. Biz had something to prove during the early 90's and man, did he ever prove it. As fast as he worked there was a focus that resulted in a white hot intensity that even 26 years later in a world full of big visuals still blows you away. Thanks for sharing this!

This is just an incredible piece IMO. Pure Bisley genius. A true orgiinal and kicking some serious ass in this powerful Punisher painting.
