DescriptionAs a part of working out plots for the Crusaders All-New Adventures covers I started compiling lists of all Archie's super heroes, as all good geeks do. You wouldn't know it by looking at the 80's or any of the newer series but they actually have a whole lot of heroes. So many that even including as many as I could in the Crusaders there were still lots left. As the idea of the Crusaders covers was to continue and "expand" the Archie universe it struck me that a companion series, like Marvel Spotlight, would be a perfect way to showcase the rest of their universe. A lot of bad titles later the obvious hit me and Red Circle Spotlight it was.Red Rube ... :\ What can I say about Rube - when Reuben Reuben shouts, "Hey Rube!" he is magically transformed into the Red Rube! No, really, it's true. A rather odd ball hero and a bad Captain Marvel rip off I was more than willing to ignore. Then I saw the Canadain version and it got me thinking. Rube became Ruby and they mysterious, seemingly eternal warrior Red Ruby was born. As always, MC has done a great job here. The Buscema vibe to this one fits perfectly with Doctor Evil's Dracula look. And as I don't do often enough, a special shout-out to Chris - he makes lettering a true art form. As always, I hope Crusaders fans approve :) Original size 11x17 ------- In This Issue ... It's past versus future when the mysterious eternal warrior Red Ruby squares off against the despot from the future - Doctor Evil! What is the connection between these two powerhouses? Could it possibly be true what Doctor Evil is saying? That in the future Red Ruby will become such a threat to the world? Such a threat that Evil's traveled to the present to kill him? This Issue's Cover ... Doctor Evil quite literally throttling Red Ruby. Social/Sharing |

Excellent artwork by Wyman, and I'm learning about two new characters I wasn't familiar with. That's win-win!
