Lea H. Seidman is a comic book and webcomics cartoonist. I first discovered her work in
The Little Mermaid comic book and met her at WonderCon in the old Oakland years. She drew an Ariel for me then. I followed her work in the Texas steampunk fantasy books
Cathedral Child and
Clockwork Angels and the science-fiction comic
Rumble Girls. Pages from those books are in my gallery. I bought her Hardy Boys adaptation the last time I saw her in San Diego. My friend Karen reported Lea was creating webcomics at Girlamatic and Modern Tales, but I missed those because of my limited internet access. In the last year, I spotted her art credit in some Teen Titan Go! comics and picked them up. Lea was set up in Artist Alley at SDCC 2016 and I was happy to catch up with her. She introduced me to her husband and daughter. I love this depiction of Eva pilot Asuka Langley (named for America's first aircraft carrier) done for a 100 days of drawing project. Lea labels this piece: "Asuka Shikinami Langley from #Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo." I've only watched the Eva TV series once and haven't kept up with the studio's further explorations of the show. Lea used to work for Gainax selling their merchandise in the US about 1989-90.
