DescriptionCompare the art with the scan of the paperback itself up above!IMAGE: 10.5" x 14.5" BOARD:12" x 19.375" Tempera on 1/8" Illustration Board This is the original painting published as the cover to the vintage paperback novel Grand Canary. Most fans are familiar with Ron Lesser's work because he appropriated McGinnis' popular style and technique and made it his own. But this Ron Lesser piece is extremely rare in that it is one of the very few in which he limited the technique he learned from McGinnis to the backgrounds, and then used a unique stle to draw and paint the figures. The technique is reminiscent of the more graphic one used by the great Mitchell Hooks from the late 50's to the early/mid 60's and it looks fabulous! Social/Sharing |
