DescriptionI'd enjoyed putting together the "last issue spectacular" covers that Mitch did for me so much that I couldn't help but think about building out that 80's Crusaders universe.Intelligent, telepathic, flying white apes - living on the moon. And on the dark side of the moon! How is that not awesome?!? Appearing only once, in Adventures of the Jaguar #11, the moment I came across this story I knew these guys had to come back. Far too easy to seem them along the lines of Gorilla City meets the Inhumans. Trying to figure out who to do the covers for this two parter was a lot more work. I don't remember exactly what got me thinking about Jeff Slemons, probably he posted some new work, but in thinking about it made more and more sense. This is the second of two AMAZING covers. I mean, look at it! The detail that Jeff brought to this is astounding! To look at this thing in person ... it brings a tear to one's eye. These are probably the two best Crusaders' covers. And, as always, Chris brings art to his lettering. Makes me want to bring the Apes back again just so I can reuse his "Valley of the Moon-Apes!" font. As always, I hope Crusaders fans approve :) Original size 11x17 ------- In This Issue ... The thrilling conclusion to last issue's epic! The Crusaders head off to the moon to rescue their kidnapped comrade, the Jaguar, from the clutches of the White Apes! But what happens when the team finds that the Apes have created their own civilization and that without the Jaguar it could end in catastrophe? How can the Crusaders save both their team mate and the Apes?? And what's that odd looking meteor hurtling towards the earth? This Issue's Cover ... Nebula, the Fox, Pow-Girl and the Shield are trying to sneak into the White Apes' kingdom but it appears that someone's already found them! Look out Nebula! Social/Sharing |
