DescriptionMy Groo Grail! From left to right: Grativo, Pal, Taranto, Drum, Groella, Arcadio, Minstrel, Mulch, Sage, Arba, Dakarba, Groo, Rufferto This artwork is huge being done on a single 18" x 24" board which Sergio fills out. Most Groo covers feature a lot of blank space left out for the stats, but this one has the blacks filled out nicely making it a complete image. Not only is this a near complete cast (ok, so Chakaal would have been good if here), they are all drawn so huge. This is vintage 90's comic art, having been published in 1999 for the compilation done by Dark Horse Comics that reprinted issues 33 to 36 of the Marvel run. The main image is with stats photoshopped to it. The actual art without the stats is in the additional images section, which can still be appreciated in all its fullness. I don't think I will ever need another Groo page after this one. **** UPDATE 7/20/2022 **** The image of Groo from this cover was also published in other media, particularly in the official Groo website and the official Groo FB page - screen captures of which I collaged and added to the additional images section. **** UPDATE 1/05/2024 **** I also found this image was used in a full page ad published twice in Groo: Mightier Than The Sword issues 3 and 4. So I am attaching a scan of that particular page. Social/Sharing |

That is an very nice piece! There are two types of comic art that I like, one that reminds me of younger years and the other is "eye-candy"/ "comfort art" that makes me smile. This one falls under "comfort art". : )

I love Sergio and his amazing art and salute you as well for sharing such a monumental piece! I met him at Big WOW! A few years ago, he was very charming. My son and fellow collector Brian Peck gifted me with a signed Groo and Rufferto piece that day, and I was amazed at how quickly Sergio signed the piece, in words and images. 😀 there are numerous YouTube videos of Sergio teaching hie excellent technique too. You are very fortunate to have this great image!
