Finally...the piece of art that I have been waiting for my whole life!!! If there ever was a grail for me...this is it!!!

When I was a small boy (I started buying comic books from 4 onwards) I loved my comic books and especially the stories with Scrooge McDuck, Donald and the rest of the gang. Only years later did I learn that the stories I liked best were all from one artist, the one and only Carl Barks. I guess a lot of you fellow collectors can relate to that.

Ever since I knew there were original pages from these stories around I had wanted one for myself. For years this was just a dream as I either could not afford the pages that became available or there was just nothing even available. As an opportunity suddenly presented itself I knew I had to go all in. It took a lot of trades to raise the funds, but the seller was really amazing throughout the whole deal. When I finally picked up the page (personally of course), it took 4 flights and 4 countries in one day to bring this beauty home...making the experience all the more special. I hope to be the caretaker of this piece for many years to come until hopefully my kids will take care of it...

Between 1942 and 1966/67 Carl Barks wrote and drew over 6700 comic book pages, most of which have sadly been destroyed. Only a mere 200 pages have survived the times... From his best period, the 1940's to late 1950's only about 40 pages have survived (30 if you discount the Milkman story which was stolen from the Disney archives) almost all of these because they were censored, either by the Disney editors or Barks himself. If you are looking at Scrooge pages only a handful has survived from the best period the early/mid 1950's...for more information I can only recommend Matti Eronen's fantastic book on Barks surviving comic book art, as well as Søren Marsner’s superbe and lovingly done website...

This page was originally meant as the upper half of page 10 of the water tank money bin story, which was first published in 1953 in the third Uncle Scrooge comic book (Four Color 495). Besides being one of the oldest (and best) surviving Scrooge pages it is also important as this story marked the first appearance of his "first dime"...it is even mentioned on the page...46cmx32cm...since it was first published in the Carl Barks library it has been reprinted numerous times...

Congratulations!! This is museum quality art! However there is 200+ pages Barks' surviving comic art, they are mostly from 1960s. But those very rare ones from 1940s-50s are hardly ever coming to markets, maybe once in generation (and life expectancy increases). You have got really remarkable art here!

Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge were my favorite reads a kid. This piece hits that pure nostalgic sweet spot, and mercy a rare piece!
