Description

Not as well known in the United States as Virgil Finlay and others - Matania is an incredibly detailed illustrator from England. Amongst the thousands of detailed beautiful pieces he created are a handful of piece for major science fiction stories- most notably Burroughs and When Worlds Collide (which inspired the first Flash Gordon story) The Book Place in London just published an amazing huge book reproducing much of Matania's art and with a definitive bio- more incredible they have a catalog of several hundred originals for sale -and I was able to obtain this beauty from 1935 featuring the surviving earthlings arrival on a planet after Earth is destroyed

I really like Matania, especially more so his sff examples which are hard to come by. This one's such a great example!
