R M GUERA - SCALPED #13 PAGE 6 (DEAD MOTHERS PART ONE), in C .'s <font color='#0X000000'>JASON AARON, JOCK and R M GUERA's </font>SCALPED Comic Art Gallery Room

If you look a little my collection you will realize my predilection for the American comic. The reason is that i do not connect with the stories of the European writers although i do admire many of his artist. So when in a same work a good script is combined with a good European artist, is normal for my that my head is to explode. What i love about this page is that it conjugates a little the two styles of drawing of Guera. On the one hand we have the clear line, with all the marginal characters of the reserve, and on the other his most dirty and dark style embodied in Dash and the lower vignettes. And the narrative is tremendous, Dash walking and obviating everything that passes around as grotesque as it may be, thus reflecting all the resentment and boredom accumulated in his life. And all this is able to reflect Guera with Dash's stance when walking, and with that dirty inking that envelops and isolates the rest. In Guera's words:

"Scalped was the work of my life, it catapulted Jason and me, it was accepted by Vertigo (DC Comics) and we were treated like a Lamborghini, something that costs money but is worth keeping. Above all thanks to our editor Will Dennis, his assistants, and some critics. Jason says that if one day Dennis (who introduced us) needs a kidney, he'll have him covered by one of us [laughs]. "

Si miráis un poco mi colección os daréis cuenta de mi predilección por el cómic americano. El motivo es que no conecto con las historias de los guionistas europeos pese a que si admiro a muchos de sus dibujantes. Así que cuando en una misma obra se conjuga un buen guion USA con un buen artista europeo lo normal es que me estalle la cabeza. Lo que me encanta de esta página es que conjuga un poco los dos estilos de dibujo de Guera. Por un lado tenemos la linea clara, con todos los personajes marginales de la reserva, y por otro su estilo mas sucio y oscuro plasmado en Dash y en las viñetas inferiores. Y la narrativa es tremenda, Dash andando y obviando todo lo que pasa a su alrededor por grotesco que sea, reflejando así todo el resentimiento y hastío acumulado en su vida. Y todo esto lo consigue reflejar Guera con la postura de Dash al andar, y con ese entintado sucio que lo envuelve y lo aísla del resto. En palabras de Guera:

"Scalped Es la obra de mi vida. Nos catapultó a Jason y a mí. Fue aceptada por Vértigo (DC Comics) y nos trataron como un Lamborghini, algo que cuesta dinero pero vale la pena mantener. Sobre todo gracias a nuestro editor Will Dennis, sus asistentes y algunos críticos. Dice Jason que, si un día Dennis (que nos presentó) necesita un riñón, lo tendrá cubierto por alguno de nosotros [ríe]".
