About the author
Pierre Seron
(Foal)
(b. 09/02/1942, Belgium)

Pierre Seron studied fine arts at the Saint-Luc Institute in Liège. Afterwards, he became a set designer. He entered the comic world by assisting Dino Attanasio and Mittéï on their comics. He also assisted Maurice Maréchal on 'Prudence Petitpas', taking on the pseudonym Foal. After these apprenticeships, he went to Spirou, where he started his successful 'Les Petits Hommes' series. This series, about the inhabitants of a small village who are shrunk by a meteorite, was at first created along with scenarists as Albert Despréchins and Hao (Mittéï). Later on, Seron took on the writing duties himself.

In the mid 1970s, he took on the pseudonym of Foal again, and began 'La Famille Foal' in Pif Gadget. In 1978, he began the myhological series about the centaurs 'Aurore et Ulysse' with writer Stephen Desberg in Spirou. Seron has done several graphic and storytelling experiments in his 'Petits Hommes' series, such as a cross-over with the 'Scrameustache' character of Gos ('Le Pickpocket', 1985), a story set in several dimensions at the same time ('Voyage entre 2 Mondes', 1990), a cross-over with his own 'Aurore et Ulysse' series ('Le Vulcan d'Or', 1988), and a story set in a video game ('Duels', 1999).
