Description2nd of 3 posts today featuring one of my favorite characters, the Black Panther (BP). I’ve actually had this page for a while but hadn’t gotten around to posting it. It’s from the FF run from 544-553 by McDuffie/Pelletier/Magyar where BP and Storm take Reed and Sue’s places on the FF. I thought it was a really fun arc so was glad to grab art from it – I picked this up from Randy Martin at a con a few years back.Like this page due to the nice storytelling establishing a not-so-happy Surfer then the face-off between him and BP – nice job by Paul. That image reminds me of one of the things I love about the character – he’ll stand toe to toe and not back down from anyone. Surfer, Galactus, Doom, Tony Stark, Cap, etc…no quarter given by BP! AWESOME page. Paul Pelletier is one hell of a good artist. Really admire his FF and Hulk work. Bravo!

Don’t think I’ve seen Pelletier’s Surfer - wow! Love Paul’s work! Wish Marvel would bring him back.

Another great Black Panther piece! Pelletier does a great version of every hero, BP is no exception to that!

I love Pelletier's work too, and Magyar inks him like they've collaborated for decades! It was so fun seeing that all the FF's traditional relationships had to be reset when T'Challa and Ororo stepped in. Like you, I enjoy that T'Challa is outgunned here, and the Surfer has the high ground from the camera's perspective, but T'Challa won't ever back down!

Exactly, Doc! This was such a fun arc, seeing BP and Ororo end up taking the Reed and Sue roles for a time. And yep, BP's outgunned here, but not out - far from it :) Paul and Rick killed it on the arc, and it's still one of my favorite runs to date in large part do to that. I haven't met Paul but I did meet Rick at a con some years back and he did tell me he had a lot of fun inking Paul on this. I told him it showed :) Thanks for the add!
