Description

It's rare that a commission so beautiful would stir emotions so bittersweet.

I'd had this concept on my Common Elements to-do list for quite a long time. When the opportunity happened along to commission Diego Bernard, whose splendid Wonder Woman artwork graces my Temple of Diana, I thought this the perfect assignment for him. With excitement, I commissioned this piece via Court Gebeau at ComiConArt on December 15, 2016.

Twelve days later, Carrie Fisher died.

Of course, Diego's artwork -- which depicts the late Ms. Fisher's Princess Leia flanked by Princess Projectra of the Legion of Super-Heroes and Princess of Battle of the Planets' G-Force (or, if you prefer, Jun the Swan from Gatchaman) -- turned out as wonderfully as I could have hoped. But it makes me a little sad, nonetheless, to know that the amazing person who inspired it is no longer with us.
