Description

It's no secret that I am a Huge fan of Alan Davis' art! His short run on the Avengers a few years back was greatly underrated and over looked but I loved each of those issues. I used to own quite a few pages from this run including a few of the covers and I am sorry I let them go. When I saw this page on ebay which also happened to feature one of my favorite Avengers villains- Kang I knew I had to go after it. If anyone has any other Davis pages from this Avengers run for sale please contact me. I'd love to take them off your hands!

Karim I used to own a splash page of Kang with the Scarlet Centurian from this series which I wish I still had so I'm glad I found this one to fill that void!

Yes I was there as well and was lucky enough to get one of his pre-drawn pieces before they were all snatched up! I will post soon.

Alan Davis is really high up on my list of the all time greats. I don't know if he's underrated or not, but his stuff is just amazing! Farmer's inks should also never be overlooked! They're one of those classic perfect teams (Kirby/Sinnott, Byrne/Austin, Swan/Anderson, Lee/Williams) Congrats on this great page!!

Just to be clear, I wasn't saying Alan is underrated, I was referring to this short run on the Avengers that is often over looked in favor of some of his other more well know series like Excaliber, Clandestine or Batman and the Outsiders. I agree with you on Farmer's inks over Davis' pencils, they are a match made in comic book heaven!

Oops! I didn't mean to imply that you said that. I just don't know what most collectors think of him. I LOVE his stuff, and some days I think he is the greatest EVER! (Yes I said that). He just draws superhero comics the way they are meant to look. And he can draw anything! Cosmic, simply, fantasy. Can't say enough about him. You did leave out two of my favorite series though, both written by him - The Nail (and Another Nail), and Fantastic Four - The End. Both amazing!

I was thinking about you at Heroes when I was flipping through Alan's portfolios of art for sale. I didn't see one, signature page that I decided to go for from that stack. But Alan did bring a few full body character sketches with him that sold almost instantly that I did manage to grab one of. I will post it as soon as I make a good scan of it. Stay tuned!
