Description
Vaughn is possibly with Robert Crumb the most important US Underground cartoonist in American publishing. Who only knows how far his work would have spread if we hadn't lost him at such an early age, I would imagine with the range and intelligence of his work he would have become a household name which might have horrified Vaughn. This strip id imagine was drawn about 1970 but don't think it ever saw print until it was finished by his son Mark for the Rip Off Press reprints in 1987, the original pencils lightboxed so they could be inked lettered and wonderfully colored by Mark, a true monument to his father's work. You see a lot of the single inked panels from Vaughn's creative process about but very rarely these huge 22x15 strips drawn like a Sunday daily strip, I have waited a long time to see one of these in the flesh and well worth the wait. For all those who have not read Vaughn's work go out and buy one of the collected editions you will be entertained for days. Also I have added a copy of the printed version finished nearly twenty years later by his son Mark.
