A stunning piece from Richard Powers for the mass market paperback cover (1982) of Robert Heinlein's The Number of the Beast. Powers created a HUGE amount of work for these Beast releases -- a LARGE wraparound cover painting for the trade paperback (1980) plus 54 black & white interior illustration, and then this painting for the mass market release.

So now I have BOTH of the Beast cover paintings (see additional images below). I guess I just need the remaining 54 interiors ;)

This piece has also appeared The Art of Richard Powers and The Frank Collection
