Description
One of Kaare’s best covers IMO from his Iron Fist run and I’m definitely lucky to have nabbed it! The other covers went quick and all of Kaare’s interior work for the series was digital so pickings were slim. This one’s from the final issue of the series and was also used for the cover of the 2nd volume trade. The piece is large – the board is 17x22” and the image itself is 13x19.5”. Way too big for my scanner so had to take a pic – hopefully It came thru OK.

Love the powerful pose and overall indomitable sense you get from the hero – ready to take on anything. The jumpsuit version of the IF costume is a cool contemporary take and how can you not like a three-section staff being featured?! Nice city skyline but the splotchy work at the bottom also gives it an organic feel. If you haven’t checked out Kaare’s IF series, I’d recommend doing it. He handled everything himself: the writing, the drawing, the lettering, the coloring, everything. I think that’s why, for me, it worked so well. Super stylized, and the way some of the pages incorporate layout with figure work and lettering is crazy. Maybe not some folks’ cup of tea but I definitely dug it.

Thanks, Kaare and Mike at More Great Art! And hope y’all like!

So very cool! Will this be the start of a "Iron Fist on Gargoyle" obsession with you? You could have Danny atop famous gargoyles frequented by a certain Dark Knight....

Hmmm...not a bad idea, Jason - "IFoG". Will have to think about it. Bats doesn't have a monopoly on gargoyles, right?! And Danny does look pretty good here...hmmm...you may yet see IFoG again! Thanks, all, for the comments!

Maybe just have a gargoyle tagged by various heroes- like a fire hydrant with dogs...

Nice piece. His stuff has great presence. I recall seeing them at cons and stopping in my tracks.

Detail here. There. Up there. Down there. Does it end? End where? The art gods truly possessed Kaare with this one. Congrats.
