DescriptionI've been a fan of James Robinson for a long time, but this series disturbed me. The off-panel death of Tony, Mikaal's lover in the Starman series, struck me as unnecessary and wrong. From this rocky start, though, Robinson crafted the amazing friendship between Starman and Congorilla, which blossomed during his run on the regular League title. (His resurrection of Tasmanian Devil -- another great gay character who was "refrigeratored" in Cry for Justice -- also won me back over.)In the end, Mauro Cascioli's stunning figure work was probably the real highlight of the miniseries for me. Mikaal has never looked better, and I'm grateful to Splash Page Art for this gorgeous splash page. Social/Sharing |
