Description

George Studdy's Bonzo the Dog (comic strip first appearing in 1922) was to early English comic art what Felix the Cat (cartoon debut in 1919, comic strip starting in 1923) was to early American comic art, although Studdy's creation was probably the more popular character of the two. Both were widely licensed, resulting in what seems to have been endless quantities and varieties of character merchandise in their home countries and abroad.
